mac wellman workshop & reading

I’ve been so busy lately, forgot to tell you!

This week I’m in a workshop of a new Mac Wellman play called 9 Days Falling at The Flea Theater. Jim Simpson is directing and Mac himself has been in the room as we’ve worked on the piece every day this week. The week of rehearsals will culminate in a staged reading tomorrow at 5:00pm at The Flea. Unfortunately seating is limited, so reservations are now closed to non-industry folk. But keep your eyes peeled for me in a reading of A. R. Gurney’s new play Office Hours at the end of May!

“miss julie” at columbia

No sooner did my last projects, Foreplays and The Painted Casket, end than (as is most always the case) I landed another part in a wonderful play. I’ll be performing the role of Christine in a second year MFA Directing student’s production of Miss Julie at Columbia University April 9, 10, & 11. We’ve already started rehearsing, and I can tell it will be an intense and rewarding process. My director, Carin White, is in a class taught by Anne Bogart, so we’re doing a lot of physical work – so far Bikram Yoga and an old favorite of mine: Viewpoints! Rumor has it Ms. Bogart will even be attending the show so…eep, it better be good! Details to come.

PS – FullStop Collective had a highly successful fundraiser last night – great food, wine, and the musical stylings of Alexandra Bassett. Check out FullStop’s production of Hangman School for Girls by Lucy Gillespie, which opens next week. And Alexandra has a show at Abigail Cafe in Brooklyn this coming Thursday – be there or square!

thank you to everyone who came to see “foreplays”

Foreplays was a major success! We closed last night, and the evening was as fun and invigorating as ever. I got to know some amazing artists and watched some of my favorite people (most notably Alexandra Bassett) put together an unparalleled event. Performing Alexandra’s writing under the direction of David Jaffe was a powerful learning experience that I will not forget. Thank you so much to everyone who came to see Foreplays. Production stills coming soon.

Next week I’m performing a leading role in the reading of a new screenplay at The Flea for potential investors, casting directors, agents, and other industry-types.

I’ll keep you posted on future work!
